About us
The Festival Bratislava in Movement (Bratislava v pohybe) is the largest international festival of contemporary dance in Slovakia.
It offers the works of top ensembles and artists in the field of contemporary dance from Europe and America. Moreover, it significantly participates in the development of dance art in Slovakia.
The festival supports the creation of new artistic projects and educates the professional and amateur dance community through various activities. It represents Bratislava and Slovakia in the international context and develops international cooperation.
It was established in 1997 and during its history has presented more than 240 ensembles and artists from more than 28 countries. In addition to the performances in the main program, more than 83 accompanying events were organized.

If you want to see more of contemporary dance, we will be happy to bring it to you at the 28th edition of the international festival Bratislava in Movement. Thank you for supporting us, for example by donating 2% of your taxes.
If you are an employee and the tax return is filed on your behalf by the employer, you can fill in our data in the Declaration of paid tax by 30 April and send it together with the Confirmation of Tax Payment.
If you file your tax return by 31 March yourself, you can fill in our data in Section VIII directly in the tax return.

History of the Festival
A group of enthusiasts from the Contemporary Dance Association (Asociácia súčasného tanca) came in 1997 with the ambition to follow the dynamically developing scene of contemporary dance in Slovakia and to confront it with world dance creations. They founded an event called Bratislava in Movement, an international festival of contemporary dance. The festival very quickly became both an integral part of the Slovak dance scene and a significant platform for the presentation of world dance creations in Slovakia. In 2000, a separate organizational structure was established for the festival – the civic association Asociácia Bratislava v pohybe (Bratislava in Movement Association), which is the main organizer of the festival.
The festival began to establish itself in international structures as well: in 1998, the director of the festival, Miroslava Kovářová, became the representative of Slovakia in the international Aerowaves network, where she still works today. Bratislava in Movement Association has been a member of IETM for several years. It is also an associate partner of the international network of major European dance festivals, the Big Pulse Dance Alliance.
